Consistently standing by the community and its needs

doValue Greece concluded the energy upgrade of the ARSIS (Association for the Social Support of Youth) NGO Unaccompanied Minor Guesthouse in Oraiokastro. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to actively demonstrate the commitment doValue Greece has undertaken to consistently stand by the community and its needs.

The project, which will improve the living conditions of the children hosted at the Guesthouse, was presented today (Thursday 25 April) by doValue Greece CEO Mr Tassos Panoussis. The event was honoured with the presence of the Vice-Regional Head of Health and Social Solidarity of Central Macedonia, Mrs. Maria Melina Dermendzopoulou and the Mayor of Oraiokastro, Mr. Pantelis Tsakiris.

The energy upgrade of the building involved the replacement of 35 door and window frames in the main guesthouse. These were four-season energy-certified constructions, offering efficient operation all year round, in line with all the Building Energy Performance Regulation (KENAK) standards, and with a coefficient below 2. This way they ensure optimal temperature within the building and save valuable energy.

Note that the ARSIS Unaccompanied Minor Guesthouse in Oraiokastro, which hosts up to 21 children aged 6-18, was established in 2009. This is the first building upgrade project of this magnitude since then. doValue chose to carry out this project after talking with the Guesthouse officials and concluding that it was a top and immediate priority.

The CEO of doValue Greece Mr. Tasos Panousis, among others, underlined during his speech: "The practical support of society, the needs of local communities and even more so of young people, is for us a firm and conscious choice and confirms doValue's commitment to the principles and values that underpin its entire philosophy. By supporting the operation of the Unaccompanied Minor Guesthouse and implementing the important project of its energy upgrade, we wish to contribute to improving the quality of life of the children staying there".

Greetings were also given by the Vice-Regional Governor Mrs. M. Dermendzopoulou, noting "Cooperation with private individuals, such as doValue, is no longer a taboo. We use every opportunity and is a pillar of our policy the assistance of private individuals since it has been proven in practice the correctness of supporting structures especially when dealing with children. The point is that our choices should have a visible impact and yield to society", while the Mayor of Oraiokastro Mr. P. Tsakiris stressed the willingness of doValue and its important contribution to stand as a helper and supporter in the efforts of the Local Government.

On behalf of the ARSIS Centre for the Accommodation of Unaccompanied Minors, Mr. Nikos Gavalas praised the importance of doValue's offer, stating that the support is an excellent factor in the difficult journey of the Facility and at the same time a "lesson" for the value of interventions that improve the lives of children and the local community.

The new initiative undertaken and implemented by doValue Greece, is part of the corporate responsibility program, #Values of Life (Life Values), which includes actions that focus on people and the precious values of human life. Within the framework of the program, doValue Greece, among others, supports the innovative program of Supportive Medicine for cancer patients "Next to Woman", at Aretaios Hospital, stands by the students of the outlying islands and educational communities, while recently it activated the Financial Responsibility Center, which aims to educate young people in collaboration with the Finance Laboratory of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus.
